Imagine this: there was a time in history, a long time ago, when the bounce and sway of a woman’s hips was considered so beautiful that they set it to music and made a dance out of it... by Fat Chance Belly Dance

Bellydance is my soul food. It is my passion. It expresses feminine beauty; it is nurturing, exhilarating, and sharing that special magic of the dance. It is the joy of seeing so many women blossom as the dance embraces them and transports them to their special places. Daphné

While I dance, I cannot plan my next day, I cannot think of anything but the dance.  I can only be lost in the music, filling my soul with joy, becoming whole and at peace.  Belly Dancing resonates with me at the core.  I feel the rhythm, the emotion, the meaning in my heart, and my body becomes the visual instrument on which the music takes a physical form. Kiley

Bellydance is more than just a dance yes its wonderful exercise but its so much more. Its an expression of me, I can let out my inner feminie goddess!! After a stressful week at work getting to class is all I need to melt away the tension. The colour and sparkle at a performance, the beautiful women I've befriended along the way, the way it makes me feel beautiful inside and out, the way your heart pounds before stepping on stage or onto a restaurant floor, the giggles in the dressing rooms. Its not just a dance to me its a new way of life. Karen

find belly dancing very good for my soul it is fun, everyone in class is friendly and it gives me a chance to block out all other thoughts while I’m concentrating on the moves. Christine

In November I dropped into a nursing home in Tasmania to surprise my Great Aunt with a dance for her upcoming 90th. This little surprise ended up being a the recreation room with a lot of adoring fans by the time I was done. One lady stood out to me as she cheer and clapped the whole time and kept calling out "ah she is a gypsy girl, a gypsy girl I tell you" so later on I went to talk to her and she told me " In the old country the Gypsy's use to come to my village, and camp in the paddock and put on big parties and we would be invited and watch them dance all night, you look just like one of the Gypsy Girls"  It felt so good to know that I had brought back some precious memories for such a lovely old lady. For all of my life I have had this urge to Belly Dance but until 2 years ago I had never had the courage to do it. So after another Tantrum about wanting to go back to nice cold Tassie, I'd been in QLD for 2 years and was really homesick and only staying for my partner. He finally convinced me it was time to get out an meet some people and do something other than work. So when I very nervously entered the dance studio one night for my first class I was surprised to meet the loveliest bunch of ladies you could imagine. We were all there for different reasons some beginners like me, some experienced dancers, but now two years on the friends I have made the places we have been together the things I have learnt  and the confidence I have gained are worth every second of nervousness I had on my way to class that first night ( and all the other moments in between before performing) not to mention I can actually dance for my dinner these days. SO IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE YOU LIFE A LOT COME AND JOIN US ONE NIGHT!!!!!  Karen
